Nigerian Law Graduate, Aderonke Gboroye Achieves Double First Class Against All Odds

In a remarkable display of grit, resilience, and determination, Aderonke Gboroye has emerged as one of Nigeria’s most inspiring young legal professionals, having earned a Double First Class—an exceptional feat in the country’s rigorous legal education system.

Aderonke’s journey began humbly in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, where she enrolled at The West African Union University (WAUU) for her undergraduate law degree (LL.B).

However, her academic trajectory was disrupted when the Nigerian Law School announced it would no longer admit law graduates from Benin—a blow that left her devastated.

“I was confused and uncertain,” she wrote in a heartfelt LinkedIn post that has since garnered widespread attention.

“Depression kicked in… but I couldn’t give up.”

In 2018, refusing to let her dream die, Aderonke transferred to Achievers University in Owo, Nigeria.

Despite having to restart from scratch and repeat courses she had already completed, she graduated with First Class Honours and was named Best Graduating Student from the College of Law.

Her resilience didn’t stop there. Aderonke recently achieved another First Class—this time in the prestigious Nigerian Law School Bar Final Exams, one of the most challenging professional examinations in the country.

“Looking back, every tear, sleepless night, and prayer was worth it,” she reflected.

Now awaiting her official call to the Nigerian Bar, Aderonke says she’s open to opportunities that allow her to contribute, grow, and make meaningful impact in the legal field.

Her story, titled From Setbacks to Double First Class: A Journey of Resilience, serves as a powerful reminder that failure is not the end, but often the beginning of a greater comeback.

As Nigeria continues to celebrate young talents redefining success, Aderonke Gboroye stands out not just for her academic excellence, but for her unwavering spirit and message of hope.
