Nigerian Physicist Breaks Guinness World Record with 15-Hour Mathematics Lesson

Physicist Reken R. Maikama from Taraba State has achieved the longest mathematics lesson ever recorded, according to the International Book of Records (IBR). Maikama conducted a 15-hour offline mathematics class on December 21, 2023, in Jalingo, Nigeria, covering 10 topics and setting a new world record.

The IBR confirmed Maikama's feat, stating that he conducted the lesson, which covered various topics in mathematics, making him the official record holder. Maikama's attempt also aimed to enter the Guinness Book of Records as the first individual to undertake the ACA-Tong in the category of the longest math lesson.

Upon confirming Maikama’s achievement, IBR notified him of his official record holder status and the impending delivery of his Record Holder Certificate. Maikama expressed his determination to overcome emotional and technical challenges during his journey, emphasizing his motto, "Nothing must block our path."

The previous record holder, Prof Suresh Babu from India, achieved a similar feat in 2018, organizing a world record program aimed at raising awareness about mathematics. Babu's event involved the participation of approximately 500 students, teachers, parents, and villagers, covering 15 chapters in basic mathematics over a 12-hour session.
