Nigerian Students Demand Payment of SIWES Allowances

The National Association of Nigerian Students has issued a stern warning to higher institutions over the non-payment of Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme allowances since 2018.

The student unions expressed deep concern over the prolonged delay, which has inflicted financial hardship on affected students.

The students praised the new Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund for taking proactive steps to address the issue. Some reforms have been introduced, including efforts to clear overdue allowances, improved supervision, and introduction of a digital logbook system.
