NOUN Delegation Assesses Damaged Imo Study Centre as VC Reassures Students
The visit, led by NOUN officials, aimed to assess the damage caused by the arson.
A delegation from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has visited the Ezeoke Nsu Study Centre in Ehime Mbano, Imo State, following its destruction by unknown hoodlums on Monday night. The visit, led by NOUN officials, aimed to assess the damage caused by the arson.
According to a press statement from NOUN's Director of Media and Publicity, Malam Ibrahim Sheme, the attack was allegedly based on false rumors that the Study Centre would be used to house internally displaced persons. NOUN has dismissed these rumors and condemned the incident as an act of mischief.
The Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, Professor Olufemi A. Peters, reassured students that their academic activities would continue uninterrupted, with arrangements made for them to attend nearby study centres. He also extended sympathies to Senator Frank Ibezim, whose home was also targeted in the attack.
Professor Peters thanked the Ezeoke Nsu community for their support and promised that the Study Centre would be restored as soon as possible. The police are currently investigating the incident to apprehend those responsible.
