A team from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) headquarters conducted a mock accreditation exercise at the Jos Study Centre to assess its readiness for an upcoming accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The visit took place under the leadership of Prof. Gregory Okagbare, Director of Academic Planning.
Upon arrival, the three-member team was welcomed by the Acting Centre Director, Mr. Bulama Samson Mshelia, along with other staff members. The mock accreditation focused on two programs in the Faculty of Management Sciences: B.Sc. Accounting and B.Sc. Banking and Finance.
Mshelia guided the team on a tour of the centre’s facilities, where they assessed the physical infrastructure and expressed satisfaction with the standards observed. The evaluation also included an examination of the number of teaching and non-teaching staff, students' files, and other essential facilities. Following the assessment, the team will compile a report to submit to the university management.
In their address to the centre’s staff, the visiting team emphasized the importance of diligence in their respective roles as they prepare for the NUC accreditation process.
Joining Prof. Okagbare were Prof. Johnson Okoh, Head of the Department of Financial Studies, and Mr. Alhamdu Usman, a Principal Assistant Registrar. The mock accreditation exercise is part of NOUN's commitment to maintaining high academic standards and ensuring readiness for official evaluations.
