Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), is set to strengthen its research and academic capacity through a strategic collaboration with the Nigeria Geological Survey Agency (NGSA).

The partnership follows a courtesy visit by the NGSA delegation to NSUK’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, Fellow; UNESCO, ACLS, FIIFP, CBER.
The proposed collaboration is in line with Professor Liman’s vision of fostering impactful partnerships to enhance institutional development, research excellence, and the University’s national and global standing.
During the visit, NGSA Director-General, Professor Olusegun Omoniyi Ige, lauded NSUK as a leading citadel of learning and emphasized the timely significance of the partnership, given Nasarawa State’s moniker, “Home of Solid Minerals.” He noted that the collaboration would promote mineral exploration research, teaching, technical knowledge exchange, and professional synergy, framing it as a win-win venture for both institutions.

Professor Liman welcomed the delegation, highlighting the broad potential of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive advances in research, agriculture, mining innovation, and the solid minerals sector. She commended Professor Ige’s dedication to research and teaching and described the MoU as a bold, historic, and symbolic step towards national development impact.
The visit culminated in the formal signing of the MoU, the symbolic presentation of an official letter appointing Professor Ige to deliver pro bono lectures at NSUK, and a group photograph commemorating the historic collaboration.
This partnership positions NSUK and NGSA to jointly advance research, foster technical expertise, and contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s solid minerals and related sectors.
