Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has criticized the current state of sports development in Nigeria and called for a greater focus on grassroots talent and early preparation. This follows the Nigerian Olympic team's underwhelming performance at the 34th Olympic Games in Paris.

Professor Sa'adatu made these remarks during a meeting with Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, Chief Executive Officer and Proprietor of FOSLA Academy, on August 14, 2024. She emphasized that Nigeria has many untapped sporting talents in rural areas who lack opportunities to excel.

In a related event, Coach Bulus Tsagu, Director of Sports at Nasarawa State University, presented the University’s female basketball team, known as the "Lunar Wolves," to the Vice-Chancellor. The team won bronze medals in a recent tournament organized in Abuja by the Chief of Defence Staff. 

Professor Sa'adatu lauded the Lunar Wolves for their achievement and stressed the importance of developing soft skills alongside sports to enhance students' future prospects. The event concluded with the presentation of medals and tokens to the team by the Vice-Chancellor.
