NUC Acting Executive Secretary Appointed to UK Quality Assurance Advisory Committee

Chris Maiyaki, the Acting Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), has been appointed to the International Advisory Committee (IAC) of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in the United Kingdom. This appointment, conveyed through a letter from Eduardo Ramos, the Director of International and Professional Services at QAA, recognizes Maiyaki's extensive experience and achievements in his role at NUC.
Maiyaki's appointment follows his notable contributions, including the approval of guidelines on Transnational Education (TNE) and Quality Assurance in Nigeria, aligned with the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standard (CCMAS). Additionally, under his leadership, NUC licensed two new private universities and facilitated the establishment of the first four Private Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Universities in Nigeria, addressing challenges related to equity and access to university education.
The IAC, comprising experts known as the Eminent Persons Group, provides strategic advice on various aspects of QAA's international activities, including partnership, accreditation, and consultancy. The Committee meets twice a year to discuss and guide QAA's international agenda.
