In a momentous celebration of academic excellence, the Editorial Board of the Journal of Obafemi Awolowo University College of Health Sciences and the Nigeria Journal of Health Sciences, as part of their Research Carnival Week, bestowed the esteemed Best Manuscript Award upon a distinguished research team from Ekiti State University (EKSU).

The accolade, spanning a remarkable five-year period from 2018 to 2023, was awarded to the EKSU team for their outstanding contribution to the field of medical research.

Out of a vast pool of meticulously scrutinized original articles accepted and published by the Journal, the EKSU research team's article titled “Randomized Controlled Trial on Early Versus Late Feeding after Caesarean Section at a Teaching Hospital in Southwest Nigeria” emerged as the epitome of scholarly excellence. This groundbreaking work, spearheaded by the erudite Dr. Olofinbiyi Babatunde, a Reader in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ekiti State University College of Medicine, stood out for its innovation and impactful findings.

The occasion was graced by the presence of distinguished figures in the medical and academic community. The guest lecturer, Prof G.F. Erhabor, delivered an enlightening discourse on "Issues and Challenges in Medical Journalogy," emphasizing the contemporary imperative of emphasizing team-based research over individual authorship.

The event, attended by the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, the Chief Medical Director of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), deans of faculties, and esteemed Emeritus and retired professors of the University, was also marked by the presentation of Awards of Excellence to the three founding editors of the Journal: Emeritus Prof Akinsola, Prof Owa, and Prof Arogundade. This celebration served as a testament to the enduring spirit of academic collaboration and innovation within the Nigerian medical research community.
