In a dedicated effort to ensure the upcoming West Africa Universities Games (WAUG) is a resounding success, the authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, have announced their unwavering commitment. They are leaving no stone unturned as they have already initiated the necessary preparations to rejuvenate the sporting facilities within the university.
The highly anticipated 2023 edition of WAUG is set to take place from December 16, 2023, with universities from across the West African sub-region converging at the university to compete for coveted medals in various sports, including Tennis, Table Tennis, Basketball, and Athletics.

A distinguished guest, the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has been confirmed to be the special guest of honor for both the opening and closing ceremonies of the games, adding prestige to the event. The grand finale is scheduled for Friday, December 22, 2023.
