Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun Rewards Outstanding Graduates with Cash Prizes

Among the recipients of the governor's cash reward were Talabi Ayomide from the Biochemistry Department, Adesanya Damilola from Pharmacology, Aĺabi Ifeoluwa in Computer Engineering, and Adegoke Azeezat, a Pharmacology graduate. These exceptional students emerged as the overall best graduating students with impressive Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPAs) of 4.86 and 4.90 respectively.

In a bid to recognize academic excellence, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, announced a cash reward of N2 million each for four outstanding graduands during the convocation ceremony held at Olabisi Onabanjo University.

The combined 32nd and 33rd convocation ceremony celebrated the achievements of over 15,000 graduands from the academic sessions of 2021/2022 and 2022/2023, representing various disciplines including degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s Degrees, and PhD awards.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Ayodeji Agboola, also took the opportunity to shed light on the university's ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering academic excellence. These initiatives include the introduction of new programs such as Medical Laboratory Science and the establishment of a Business School to meet the evolving needs of the society.

The convocation ceremony was not only a platform to celebrate academic achievements but also featured the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on notable individuals including Oba Adewale Ajayi and Mrs Mosunmola Belo-Olusoga. Additionally, Mr Wole Olanipekun SAN delivered a thought-provoking convocation lecture titled “Mass Exodus Of Human Capital In Nigeria: An Anatomical Analysis of The Causes and Effects”.
