The Orpheus Literary Foundation, renowned for its commitment to promoting literary arts, literacy, and cultural exchange in Nigeria, has made a significant contribution to the University of Abuja. The Foundation has donated 150 volumes of books and journals on pharmacy, pharmacognosy, and related fields, a gesture that promises to enhance the academic resources available to students and faculty.

The donation, part of the Estate of Mr. S.U. Aliyu, was presented by Malam Denja Abdullahi, the founder and chairman of the Foundation. During the handover ceremony, Abdullahi expressed his hope that the materials would serve as valuable resources for the University community. He emphasized the University’s role in determining how to best utilize the donation for the benefit of its students and staff.

Professor Ebele Anyaoku, the University Librarian, received the donation on behalf of the University. She lauded the Foundation's generosity, highlighting how the new resources would enrich the pharmacy section of the University’s library.

"Donating to the library is a gift to the entire community," Anyaoku stated, underscoring the broad impact the books and journals would have. She also assured Abdullahi that the University would make optimal use of the materials and seized the opportunity to request further support.

In her remarks, Anyaoku urged Abdullahi, a former president of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), to use his network to facilitate more donations, particularly of books on African literature, to further bolster the library's collection.

The University community looks forward to the positive impact this donation will have on its academic and research activities.
