The German ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Gunther, has revealed that there are over 4,000 Nigerian students currently studying and working in Germany. In an interview in Abuja on Sunday, Ms. Gunther stated that the German Academic Exchange Service awards approximately 1,000 scholarships annually.

She emphasized the German government's commitment to improving visa approvals for Nigerian students intending to pursue education in Germany. Despite challenges in visa issuance timing, Ms. Gunther assured that Germany welcomes Nigerian students and is actively working to enhance its capacity in visa processing.

Ms. Gunther highlighted that many courses in Germany are taught in English, although proficiency in the German language is essential for day-to-day life in the country. She also noted that university studies in Germany are either free or relatively inexpensive compared to other English-speaking countries, making it an attractive destination for international students.

The German Academic Exchange Service offers over 1,000 scholarships yearly, reflecting the high demand and interest in German education.
