MTN Nigeria, in collaboration with the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, has opened applications for the fourth edition of the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MTN MIP-4).

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, in collaboration with the School of Media and Communication (SMC), Pan-Atlantic University, has announced the commencement of applications for the fourth edition of the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MTN MIP-4).

The fully funded six-month certificate fellowship is designed for media practitioners, including journalists, bloggers, and content creators across print, electronic, and digital platforms. The programme will begin on May 19, 2025, at the Main Campus of Pan-Atlantic University, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

Launched in 2022, MTN MIP aims to equip media professionals with an in-depth understanding of the evolving media landscape, particularly in the technology sector. The programme also includes an international study visit to the University of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Speaking on the impact of the initiative, Tobe Okigbo, Chief Corporate Services & Sustainability Officer at MTN Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering media innovation.

“When we launched MIP in 2022, our goal was to enhance media professionals’ reporting capabilities and deepen their understanding of the technology sector. Seeing the impact of the programme over the past three years has been both inspiring and humbling. We are proud to continue this initiative and invite all eligible media professionals and content creators to seize this opportunity by applying for the fourth cohort,” Okigbo stated.

Dr. Ikechukwu Obiaya, Dean of SMC, Pan-Atlantic University, highlighted the programme’s role in shaping the future of media professionals.

“Given the challenges of today’s fast-changing media space, there is an ever-greater urgency to cultivate a new generation of media professionals who will drive innovation and excellence. SMC will leverage its extensive experience in training media professionals to equip this next cohort, with our usual emphasis on creativity and ethics,” Obiaya said.

At the end of the programme, the 20 selected fellows will receive training on Nigeria’s technology sector, media-tech relationships, and advanced content creation strategies. They will also gain access to professional mentorship and resources to navigate the changing media landscape successfully.

Applications for MTN MIP-4 open on Monday, March 24, 2025, and close on Monday, April 7, 2025. Interested journalists, bloggers, and content creators can apply online.
