The conference, themed "Microbial Dynamics at the Nexus of Environment: Exploring Interdisciplinary Approaches for a Sustainable Environment," brought together leading experts in the field. NSME, an affiliate of the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME) based in the Netherlands, is a non-profit association that supports the field of microbial ecology. Additionally, NSME sponsors problem-solving research and publishes high-impact journals featuring groundbreaking research.

During his address, Professor Adejumo emphasized NSME's role in supporting the broader community of microbial ecologists by facilitating research, education, and the dissemination of knowledge.
