Prof Bello Sabo and Prof Raymond Bako Emerge as ABU DVCs

Ahmadu Bello University has announced the emergence of Prof Bello Sabo as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, and the return of Prof Raymond B Bako as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic.

The Senate meeting, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Adamu Ahmed, unanimously endorsed both nominations on August 28, 2025.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, replacing Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, whose tenure ends on August 31, 2025. Sabo, a professor of Business Administration, previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Administration.

Returning as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic for a second term, subject to Governing Council approval. Bako is currently the Centre Leader of the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE).

Vice-Chancellor Prof Adamu Ahmed congratulated both Prof Sabo and Prof Bako on their emergence and wished them success in their new roles. He also congratulated outgoing DVC Administration, Prof Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, on completing his second term.

The appointments are subject to approval by the University Governing Council. Once approved, Prof Sabo and Prof Bako will assume their new roles, contributing to the university's leadership and academic excellence.
