Prof. Mrs. C. U. Njoku, former Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, has been appointed as the second female Vice Chancellor of Gregory University, Uturu.

Gregory University, Uturu (GUU) in Abia State has announced the appointment of Prof. C. U. Njoku as its new Vice Chancellor. Prof. Njoku, who previously served as the Dean of the Postgraduate Institute, becomes the second female Vice Chancellor of the university, following in the footsteps of the pioneer Vice Chancellor who was also a woman.

This announcement was made on Monday in a statement signed by Mr. Sleek Ogwo, the Deputy Registrar in charge of public affairs. The statement detailed that Prof. Augustine Uwakwe, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, has been promoted to Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council. Prof. Nnamdi Ekeocha, the former Dean of Environmental Science, will now serve as the Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies.

Recall that Prof. Njoku was the former Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede for 8 years. During her tenure, she was known for her strong leadership and focus on academic excellence.

In her first address as Vice Chancellor, Prof. Njoku called for renewed support and cooperation from all staff members to help the university achieve new heights in curriculum development, research, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer. In a related development, the university has issued a warning about fraudulent activities concerning Direct Entry admissions. A press statement by Ebubechi Iwuh, the Acting Public Relations Officer, cautioned the public against falling victim to scams promising Direct Entry admission for the 2024/2025 academic session. The university advised the public to rely on official social media channels and the university’s website for accurate information.
