Professor Ahmed Bako Delivers 50th Inaugural Lecture at Usmanu Danfodiyo University

Professor Ahmed Bako, a renowned lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS), presented the 50th inaugural lecture of the institution on September 5, 2024.

The lecture, titled "The Igbo Factor in the History of Intergroup Relations and Commerce in Kano: Opportunities and Challenges Revisited," was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bashir Garba, and attended by dignitaries.

Professor Bako, a 43-year veteran of the department, explored the historical relationship between the Igbo community in Kano and Northern Nigeria, analyzing their origins, migration, and mutual interactions. He emphasized the Igbo community's commitment to remaining in Kano despite challenges.
