Redeemer's University (RUN), Ede, has unveiled a web-based Students' Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Portal developed by final-year students of its Department of Computer Science to improve the management of SIWES activities.

The project was carried out under the supervision of Tobore Igbe, in collaboration with the University's Directorate of SIWES, as part of efforts to leverage technology for more efficient academic administration and service delivery.
The newly developed portal is designed to digitise and streamline SIWES operations by providing a centralised platform for students, supervisors and administrators. Its key features include:
- Centralised student registration.
- Digital logbook.
- Efficient data management.
According to the university, the system is intended to eliminate the inefficiencies associated with manual SIWES processes.
Following rigorous testing, the platform was found to be fully functional and effective. The development team later presented the project to the Vice-Chancellor, Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, who commended the initiative and reaffirmed the university's readiness to adopt the solution once intellectual property considerations are resolved.
The student development team comprises:
- Arukhame-Sanusi Timothy Ofueslimi.
- Ajibola Praise Oluwadamilola.
- Ilori Elijah Oluwatayemise.
- Arigbabuwo Lateefah Omowunmi.
Other contributors to the project include:
- Tobore Igbe – Project Supervisor.
- Miss Adebola Adedokun – SIWES Directorate.
- Olufemi Sanyaolu – Acting Director, SIWES Directorate.

Commending the team, Dr. Olufemi Sanyaolu described the project as a major milestone in the Directorate's commitment to using technology to improve service delivery. He praised the team's dedication, foresight and technical expertise throughout the project's conception and implementation.
Providing further insight into the project, Dr. Tobore Igbe explained that the portal was developed to minimise manual processes by creating an integrated web application that enables seamless coordination among students, supervisors and administrators.
According to him, the development process included requirements analysis, architectural design, coding, integration, performance evaluation, unit testing and system testing to ensure the platform's reliability, scalability and ease of use.
Speaking on the project, Ilori Elijah said he was motivated by the inefficiencies of the traditional paper-based SIWES logbook system, which inspired him to contribute to the conception and testing of the platform alongside the SIWES coordinator.
Arukhame-Sanusi Timothy said the goal was to digitise the paper-based SIWES logbook process through continuous collaboration with the SIWES coordinator, describing the journey from ideation to implementation as rewarding and fulfilling.
Ajibola Praise said he participated in the conceptualisation of the system, developed key features, integrated essential functionalities and conducted system testing to ensure the application met its objectives and functional requirements.
Arigbabuwo Lateefah stated that her focus was to ensure students and supervisors could transition seamlessly to the digital platform, making logbook submission and tracking easier. She described seeing the project evolve from an idea into a fully functional solution as highly rewarding.

Redeemer's University said the achievement reflects its commitment to producing solution-oriented graduates equipped with the skills to address real-world challenges while strengthening its position in innovation and digital transformation.
