Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, has pledged to collaborate with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), to improve food security and farming techniques in Nigeria.

During an interactive session with the university community in Abeokuta, Senator Salisu expressed his commitment to supporting and partnering with FUNAAB to train local farmers in Ogun central senatorial district. He emphasized that this collaboration is crucial for achieving sustainable food production in the country.

As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Crimes, Senator Salisu urged FUNAAB to send students to rural areas for extensive extension services, aiming to enhance farming methodologies and ultimately address food insecurity nationwide.

"I have come to identify with you, to build a partnership that will benefit my senatorial district and address the challenges," Senator Salisu stated, highlighting the importance of empowering local farmers and enhancing agricultural practices.

Furthermore, Senator Salisu assured the university community of his commitment to facilitating the reconstruction of the road leading to the institution, acknowledging its deplorable condition. He pledged to include provisions for road reconstruction in the next appropriation bill and promised interim measures to alleviate the current hardships faced by people in the area.

Addressing the need for a reliable digital identity in fostering a digital economy, Senator Salisu discussed plans to harmonize the database of Nigerians. He stressed the importance of ensuring that individuals are recognized consistently across all platforms.

In response, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Olusola Kehinde, expressed appreciation for Senator Salisu's engagement with the university community. Prof. Kehinde assured the senator of FUNAAB's full cooperation and partnership to realize his ambitious programs aimed at enhancing food security and agricultural development in Nigeria.
