FUNAAB VC, Former VC, and Distinguished Educators Receive Prestigious Awards at UNAA’s 109th NEC Meeting
At the 109th National Executive Council Meeting of the University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA), several distinguished educators received prestigious awards for their remarkable contributions to academia and societal advancement.
The University of Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA) recently convened its 109th National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting, where distinguished educators were honored for their exceptional contributions to academia and societal development.

Professor Babatunde Kehinde, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), was bestowed with the prestigious Excellence in Human Capital Development Award. His predecessor, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, the immediate past Vice Chancellor, was also recognized for his outstanding leadership and contributions to FUNAAB during his tenure.
During the award ceremony, Professor Kehinde expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing FUNAAB's commitment to addressing challenges within the agricultural sector through value addition and technological innovation.

UNAA's National President, Queen (Dr) Linda Agua-Onyekwelu, praised the effective leadership demonstrated by both recipients, highlighting their roles in public service, human capital management, and administration. She particularly lauded Professor Salako for enhancing FUNAAB's profile during his tenure.
In his response, Professor Salako emphasized the importance of value addition in agriculture and urged the utilization of Information Technology to boost productivity and diversify agricultural ventures.
The event also featured a keynote address by Professor James Banjo from Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijebu-Ode, who discussed the contemporary challenges facing the agricultural sector and advocated for concerted efforts to address food insecurity and rural underdevelopment.
Several other notable individuals were honored at the event, including former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, represented by Mr. Kehinde Sogunle, and former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola. Additionally, former dean of the College of Biosciences (COLBIOS) at FUNAAB, Professor David Agboola, and rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Dr. David Odedeji, were among the esteemed awardees.
The event underscored the importance of recognizing and celebrating individuals' contributions to society while advocating for collective efforts to drive educational and agricultural development in Nigeria.
