In a shocking development, five students from Abia State University (ABSU) are on the brink of expulsion after being apprehended for their alleged involvement in rape and cult-related activities. The incident, which occurred on Thursday night at Unity Lodge off-campus, has sent shockwaves through the university community.

According to Mr. Ojo Ezichi, a member of the university Senate Committee and Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) at ABSU, three of the students are accused of raping two female students. Ezichi, in a viral video, identified the suspects as members of the notorious Black Axe cult group. He emphatically stated, "This is their last day in this university," reflecting the institution's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for criminal activities.

The Head of the Public Relations Department at ABSU, Mr. Chijoke Nwogu, when contacted, stated that he was yet to receive detailed information about the incident. However, an anonymous university source confirmed that the suspects had been handed over to the police for prosecution.

Efforts to obtain a response from the police, as of the time of filing this report, were unsuccessful. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna, did not answer calls.
