Enugu State Governor Launches Committee to Investigate IMT Affairs
In a decisive move to ensure transparency and accountability in the state's educational institutions, Governor Dr. Peter Mbah has inaugurated an eight-man committee to investigate the affairs of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
The Committee of Inquiry into the Accounts, Management Practices, and Staff Conduct is set to scrutinize the operations of IMT, with Prof. Ed Nwobodo appointed as the Chairman and Chinenye Angela as the Secretary. Other members include Osita Onuma, Dr. Ada Nwonye, Barr. Lilian Ikwueze, Amb. Judy Nweke, Dr. Moses Otiji, and Vincent Onyeabor.

During the inauguration at the Government House, Enugu, Governor Mbah emphasized the need for credibility within the institution. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the Governor expressed confidence in the Committee's capacity to deliver on its mandate.
"The work you are going to do will set a new course for that institution and for the rest of the action the government will take in the Higher Education space in Enugu state,” Governor Mbah stated.

The Committee's terms of reference include evaluating the legal and policy framework, analyzing fees charged to students, investigating payment methods and designated accounts, and assessing adherence to laws and regulations in staff appointments.
Furthermore, the committee is tasked with scrutinizing revenue generation, financial management, and investigating any instances of undue financial demands on students. The mandate extends to exploring other relevant areas that may emerge during the investigation.

Responding on behalf of the committee members, Prof. Nwobodo expressed gratitude for the opportunity and assured the Governor of a thorough job.
“I am confident that this Committee is going to do a thorough job, such that we should in the next years, look back and say that this was good. We are bound to do a good job, and I am confident that the men and women you have selected will do a good job,” Nwobodo affirmed.
The Committee has been given two weeks to submit its comprehensive report. This development marks a significant step towards ensuring accountability and excellence in higher education in Enugu State.
