Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has formally inaugurated the governing council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) at the State Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Awka. The event, detailed in a press statement by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, occurred on Wednesday.

The council, chaired by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, includes notable figures such as Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Chief Christopher Ndubuisi, Igwe Oranu Chris Chidume, and AIG Chris Ezike (retd.). Senate and Congregation representatives were also appointed to ensure comprehensive governance.

Governor Soludo emphasized the university's pivotal role in Anambra's tertiary education landscape, urging the council to rejuvenate and position COOU as a leader in Nigerian higher education. He challenged them to foster an identity and brand unique to the institution while managing fiscal constraints effectively.

In response, Prof. Odinkalu expressed gratitude for the opportunity and outlined plans to uphold the university's mandate, emphasizing research, cultural heritage, and sustainable development. He acknowledged the legacy of the Odumegwu Ojukwu dynasty and pledged to collaborate closely with university stakeholders to enhance facilities and academic standards.
