In a recent report by Punch Newspaper, the Registrar of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) has stated that the Students Union lacks the power to suspend academic activities within the institution, Myschoolnews report.

This statement comes amidst an ongoing protest by students, resulting in the closure of AAU's main gate and the College of Medicine for nearly two weeks.

The dispute revolves around the alleged increase in school fees, which has sparked widespread discontent among the student body. In response, students have taken to the streets, barricading entrances to the university campus and the College of Medicine.

However, the AAU Registrar has clarified that the Students Union does not possess the authority to halt academic operations. While acknowledging the concerns raised by the students, the Registrar emphasized that the decision to suspend academic activities rests solely with the university management and Senate .

The prolonged closure of the main gate and the College of Medicine has caused significant disruptions to the university's daily operations. Students, staff, and visitors have been unable to access the premises, resulting in academic delays and inconveniences.
