The event, celebrated with great enthusiasm by students and staff alike, showcased an array of traditional and contemporary attire, highlighting Nigeria's rich cultural diversity.
The day began with a colorful parade, where students adorned in various traditional outfits from different ethnic groups in Nigeria marched through the campus. The parade, accompanied by traditional music and dance, was a feast for the eyes and a testament to the students' pride in their cultural roots.
Various departments competed in the costume contest, with participants judged on creativity, authenticity, and presentation. The competition was fierce, but the Department of Agricultural Economics emerged victorious with their elaborate display of traditional Yoruba attire, complete with accessories and props that highlighted the agricultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
In addition to the costume contest, the event featured cultural performances, including traditional dances, poetry recitals, and musical acts. These performances provided an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and deepen their appreciation for Nigeria's cultural heritage.
The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Felix Kolawole Salako, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of cultural events in fostering unity and understanding among students from diverse backgrounds. He praised the students for their creativity and commitment to preserving their cultural heritage, noting that such events contribute to the holistic development of students.

Students expressed their excitement and pride in participating in Costume Day. "This event allows us to connect with our roots and celebrate our identity. It also helps us appreciate the diverse cultures within our university community," said Adetola Ogunbiyi, a student from the Department of Animal Science.
The event concluded with an award ceremony where winners of the costume contest and other performances were recognized for their outstanding contributions. The atmosphere was filled with joy and camaraderie as students and staff celebrated their shared cultural heritage.
