The Jigawa State Governor and Visitor to Sule Lamido University, Malam Umar A. Namadi, has approved the appointment of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Baba Umar Faruk II, OON, as the new Chancellor of the university.
This appointment was made in accordance with Sections 8 and 2 of the Second Schedule of the University Law 2013, as amended.
Alhaji Umar Faruk II, born on March 25, 1957, in Katagum Emirate, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bayero University Kano. He has also attended prestigious institutions, including the French National War College, Paris, and the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON).
Before becoming the 12th Emir of Katagum in 2017, he served in various capacities, including Director of Budget, Director of Navy, and Permanent Secretary in several ministries.
