Suspected Herdsmen Abduct Two Taraba Undergraduates
The victims, identified as spill-over students who had already graduated but stayed behind to remedy some courses, were taken around 11 pm near the school premises.
Two students of the Federal University Wukari, Taraba State, were abducted on Monday night in Wukari by suspected herdsmen, according to the institution's Chief Security Officer, Sule Gani, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday.
The victims, identified as spill-over students who had already graduated but stayed behind to remedy some courses, were taken around 11 pm near the school premises.
Gani stated, "They carried him and one lady. They are spill-over students. He came out to buy something and some suspected herdsmen took them away."
Efforts to reach the Taraba police spokesman for comment were unsuccessful as he had not responded to calls to his mobile as of press time.
The incident adds to growing concerns over security in the region, as cases of abduction and violence continue to plague communities.The Federal University Wukari administration has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
