Tai Solarin University of Education Graduates 5,153, 18 Emerge with First Class Honors

The Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, is set to award degrees and diplomas to a total of 5,153 graduates during its combined 13th, 14th, and 15th convocation ceremonies scheduled for Monday and Tuesday. Among these graduates, 18 will be honored with First Class honors, showcasing the academic excellence achieved at the institution.

Dr. Tunde Lemo, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and ex-President of TASUED Trust Foundation, will be conferred with the degree of Doctor of Economics (honoris causa) in recognition of his significant contributions.

Professor Banjo addressed recent adjustments in school fees, emphasizing TASUED's introduction of a two-installment payment plan to ease the financial burden on students and parents. This decision was made in consideration of the economic challenges resulting from the recent removal of petrol subsidy.

The Vice Chancellor highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the university's development. Notably, the Crystal Building, an ICT-based research and teaching facility, and the Alumni Building, a 2000-seater capacity lecture theatre generously donated to the university, will be commissioned during the convocation.

Banjo expressed pride in TASUED's achievements in research, training, and manpower development. He cited collaborations, such as the partnership with the Teachers Registration Council, ensuring graduates become certified members of the council upon graduation. The establishment of the College of Agricultural Sciences was also acknowledged as a significant milestone, contributing to the diverse academic offerings of the university.
