Talented Amputee Athletes Triumph in Kwara State Track Championships, Set to Represent State in National Youth Games
Two amputee athletes have emerged as top performers in the Kwara State Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships. Their outstanding achievements have earned them the opportunity to represent the state at the upcoming National Youth Games Sport Festivals. Kwara state has praised the two amputee athletes, recognizing their tremendous abilities as potential champions not only for the state but also for the entire country.
Two amputee athletes have emerged as top performers in the Kwara State Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships. Their outstanding achievements have earned them the opportunity to represent the state at the upcoming National Youth Games Sport Festivals.
The two athletes, Omar Saidu and Mohammed Alhaji Issa, have defied physical challenges to excel in their respective events. Omar Saidu, an SS1 student at Lafiagi Secondary School, dominated the tracks by winning the 200m race and securing a commendable fourth place in the 800m event. Meanwhile, Mohammed Alhaji Issa showcased his prowess in the javelin throw.

Coach Bola Mogaji, the executive chairman of the Kwara Sports Commission (KWSC), expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcome. He emphasized that the primary goal of taking sports to the grassroots in the state has been achieved through the discovery of new talents.

“The mission of the Kwara State Sports Commission to uncover hidden talents by promoting athletics at the grassroots level is yielding positive results,” Coach Mogaji stated. He further praised the two amputee athletes, recognizing their tremendous abilities as potential champions not only for the state but also for the entire country.
