TASUED Expels 31, Suspends 47 in Major Disciplinary Sweep
Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has disciplined 78 students for various academic and behavioral violations.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the university’s Public Relations Office announced that 31 students were expelled and 47 others were indefinitely suspended. Among the expelled students is Ojo Michael, a second-year Computer Science student, who was removed for the entire 2023/2024 academic year for falsifying his Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to qualify for the Student Union elections.
Additionally, 17 students were expelled for examination malpractice, five for issuing threats, and one for fraudulent activities. The university’s Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee thoroughly investigated the cases before recommending the disciplinary actions.
The university emphasized its commitment to upholding academic discipline and warned that any student found guilty of misconduct would face strict penalties. The 47 students who were suspended for offenses, including impersonation, have been instructed to stay off-campus to avoid confrontations with security personnel.
The university’s Senate reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining academic integrity and cautioned that further violations would result in severe consequences. The Senate, at its statutory meeting on July 31, 2024, approved the disciplinary actions, emphasizing the importance of academic integrity and discipline within the university community.
