Tinubu commissions 15 UNILORIN projects

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commissioned 15 newly completed projects at the University of llorin, saying that he was thrilled by the University's prudent management of resources.

The projects commissioning, which climaxed the University's 2023 convocation ceremonies, was performed on behalf of the President by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the University's Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, disclosed that the commissioned projects include: the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences building, the Advancement Centre building, the Department of Anatomy building, Extension of University Clinic, the Department of Chemical Engineering Building, the Faculty of Engineering 400-seater capacity studio, the Faculty of Engineering 500-seater capacity lecture theatre

1 and 2. Construction of four (4) bedroom apartment for (COBES) & Perimeter block wall fence, Asphalt overlay on the existing road from University gate to Senate building phases (1 and 2), Asphalt overlay on the existing road from University main campus to University of llorin Teaching Hospital (phase 5), Asphalt overlay on the road at UNILORIN GRA Staff Quarters, construction of road from NOC to Faculty of Arts and Law and Construction of the road to the University Primary School.

Speaking at the new Department of Chemical Engineering building, the President expressed happiness that all the projects are not only important but also needed in promoting effective teaching and learning.

He also expressed his delight that the projects were beautifully executed.

The President congratulated the Unilorin Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for ensuring that the projects are of quality standards and advised that the edifice, especially the laboratories should be put to full use to attract university grants In his remarks before the commissioning, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN) said, "Research and Innovation are the lifeblood of the University of llorin, the University currently has a total of 36 patents with the Federal Government, which makes the University one of the highest contributing institution to patency in Nigeria".
