A somber atmosphere enveloped Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, as news emerged of the tragic death of Adedokun Olamilekan, a 200-level student. Olamilekan was fatally stabbed on Thursday night by unidentified assailants in the Under G area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Reports indicate that the young student, who also ran a business called Dcrown Unisex Salon in the area, was involved in a dispute before the fatal incident occurred. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Olamilekan succumbed to his injuries, leaving the university community in shock and mourning.

The incident has been reported to the Owode Police Station, Ogbomoso, for further investigation. However, authorities, including the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, and the university's Public Relations Officer, Fadeyi, are yet to release official statements regarding the incident.

In a separate development, police authorities have made significant progress in the case of Faith Omodon, a 200-level student at Delta State University, Agbor, who was allegedly murdered. Among the suspects apprehended is a 26-year-old native doctor named Chukwuyem Jonah.

Faith Omodon was reported missing on April 1 in the Iru Egbede community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State. It was later discovered that she had been strangled to death after resisting her abduction. The diligent efforts of her father and the police led to the apprehension of suspects, with the case now under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Benin City.

These tragic incidents highlight the urgent need for improved security measures within and around university campuses, as well as swift justice for victims of violence.
