A devastating road accident in Osun State has left four students and three other passengers dead after a commercial bus collided with a motorcycle and a tricycle. The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) reported that the accident occurred around 9:10 am near the WORDIF area, close to Lameco junction on Ring Road Bypass.

According to Henry Benamaisia, the Osun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, the accident involved a blue Mazda commercial bus and a tricycle. Out of the eight individuals involved, comprising four male adults and four children, only one passenger survived. Tragically, four persons died on the spot, and three others succumbed to their injuries at the Osun Teaching Hospital.

Benamaisia attributed the accident to excessive speed, leading to a burst tire and loss of control. The vehicles involved were taken to Dugbe Police Station, while the deceased were transported to Osun State Teaching Hospital.

Governor Ademola Adeleke expressed deep sorrow over the accident, extending condolences to the families of the deceased and wishing those injured a swift recovery. He stated, "It is really painful for me, and I want to use this avenue to commiserate with the families of the deceased. It is my prayer that God Almighty repose their souls and give their loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses occasioned by their death."

The FRSC emphasized the importance of motorists adhering to traffic regulations to avoid endangering lives. The accident involved a Mazda 18-seater bus, a yellow tricycle, and a motorcycle.
