The Governing Council of Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, has appointed Prof. Clement Kolawole as the substantive Vice-Chancellor, following his tenure as acting Vice-Chancellor since September.

The Governing Council of Trinity University, situated in Yaba, Lagos, has announced the appointment of Prof. Clement Kolawole as the second substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution. Prof. Kolawole, a distinguished scholar in English Language and Curriculum Instruction, previously served in an acting capacity following the conclusion of the tenure of the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Ayo, in September last year.

The appointment was disclosed by the Registrar of the university, Mr. David Oyejide, in a statement issued by the university's spokesperson, Mr. Michael Bangbola, on Tuesday. According to Mr. Oyejide, Prof. Kolawole's elevation to the position of substantive Vice-Chancellor reflects his outstanding performance during his tenure as the acting Vice-Chancellor. He cited Prof. Kolawole's accomplishments in enhancing human and material resources, expanding course offerings, fostering research activities, and increasing student enrollment.

Under Prof. Kolawole's leadership, Trinity University achieved full accreditation for all its 16 courses and programs from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and received accreditation from professional bodies such as ICAN for professional courses, the registrar highlighted.

Another significant milestone during Prof. Kolawole's tenure was the successful maiden convocation ceremony, where 72 graduates were awarded degrees. The event also saw the inauguration of the first Chancellor of the University, Prince Samuel Adedoyin, and the conferral of honorary doctorate degrees upon Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, wife of the late governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, and Dr. John Obaro.

The university community extended their congratulations to Prof. Kolawole on his appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to lead Trinity University to greater heights. In response, Prof. Kolawole expressed gratitude to the Trinity Foundation, Board of Trustees, Governing Council, management, staff, and students for their support. He pledged to redouble his efforts in advancing the university's mission and solicited continuous support and cooperation from all stakeholders.

Prof. Kolawole, aged 66 and hailing from Ondo State, was appointed as a professor by the University of Ibadan in 2008. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Nigerian Academy of Education, National Association of Curriculum Theorists, International Council on Education for Teaching, and International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language.
