Two Lecturers Dismissed For Allegedly Harassing Female Student Sêxually in UNIABUJA

On Monday, the don also informed our correspondent that the institution had established a communication channel to allow students to report incidents of sêxual harassment and other unethical behavior by lecturers.

As reported, the problem of sêxual harassment has been a persistent issue in Nigerian educational institutions. A survey conducted in 2018 by the World Bank Group's Women revealed that 70 per cent of female graduates from tertiary institutions in Nigeria experienced sêxual harassment during their time in school. The report indicated that classmates and lecturers were the primary perpetrators of these incidents.

Despite the Senate passing a bill in 2021 stipulating that lecherous lecturers should face a 21-year imprisonment, it was reports that many of the lecturers who were later found guilty and implicated in such cases were merely dismissed from their positions.
