UI Deputy Vice-Chancellor Urges Strategic Partnership with Globacom

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University of Ibadan, Professor Aderonke M. Baiyeroju, has urged Globacom to enhance its partnership with the institution in areas such as ICT, telecommunications services, and corporate social responsibility.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University of Ibadan (UI), Professor Aderonke M. Baiyeroju, has called on Globacom to strengthen its partnership with the institution. During a courtesy visit by a team from Globacom, Professor Baiyeroju emphasized the need for collaboration in ICT, telecommunications services, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor commended Globacom for offering affordable telecommunications services in Nigeria, highlighting that their data plans are among the most economical in the country.

Professor Baiyeroju also noted that UI continuously equips its students with skills in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology, ensuring the institution's reputation for academic and practical excellence remains strong. She emphasized that the University is open to collaborating with Globacom on initiatives like smart campus projects, digitalization, e-learning, and technological development.

The visit, according to Professor Baiyeroju, presents an opportunity for both UI and Globacom to expand their relationship and explore a strategic partnership that would benefit the institution's staff and students.

In response, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, Director of Sales and leader of the Globacom team, expressed appreciation for the University's leadership in fostering innovation and imparting sound education. He revealed that Globacom aims to collaborate with UI on several projects, including fixed internet services, smart learning solutions, and seamless network infrastructure.

Mr. Odejobi also highlighted Globacom’s support for the education sector through services like sponsored data, Learning Management System (LMS) data packages, smart ID cards, and unique identifiers for institutions. He expressed the company’s desire to extend these services to UI's staff and students, adding that Globacom is committed to working with the University on its Smart Campus initiative and setting up an incubation hall for student ICT training.
