Adebowale, mni, FAS, has lauded the institution’s founding fathers for establishing a legacy rooted in excellence, integrity, and service—values he credits for the university’s continued dominance in the Nigerian and West African academic landscapes.

Professor Adebowale made these remarks during a courtesy visit by members of Syndicate 5, Course 19, from the Executive Intelligence Management Programme of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS). He emphasized that the university remains dedicated to sustaining these historical legacies while evolving to meet modern global standards.

Addressing the theme of the 19th Course, "Ethnic Militias and Resource Competition in Africa: Implications for National Security," Professor Adebowale described the focus as timely and critical, given the current security climate. He expressed confidence that the university’s academic environment would provide the participants with profound insights to aid their research.

Mrs. Halimah Zanna Ibrahim, fsi, Director of Studies at NISS and leader of the delegation, explained that the course is designed to empower senior officials to interrogate and address dynamic security challenges across the continent. The visiting syndicate comprised 11 high-ranking officers from various Nigerian government, law enforcement, and regulatory agencies—all at the rank of Deputy Director or higher—alongside international participants from The Gambia, Ghana, and Côte d’Ivoire.
