The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of University of Ibadan, Peter O. Olapegba, has reiterated the institution’s commitment to peer review as a core mechanism for strengthening academic quality and programme delivery.

Olapegba gave the assurance on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Kayode O. Adebowale, while receiving an assessment team from the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria during a courtesy visit to evaluate the Department of Quantity Surveying.
He emphasized that the assessment exercise goes beyond regulatory compliance, describing it as a quality assurance process designed to enhance teaching standards and align academic programmes with evolving professional benchmarks. He added that the university remains open to continuous learning and institutional improvement.
Despite funding constraints, Olapegba noted that the university has made significant investments in the development of the department and remains committed to sustaining its growth and competitiveness.
He expressed confidence that the assessment and interactions with students would provide actionable insights to further strengthen the programme, while also commending the Board for its role in maintaining professional standards in the training of quantity surveyors.

Leading the assessment team, Agu Nathan clarified that the exercise was not punitive but developmental, aimed at evaluating existing structures and identifying areas for improvement. He described the process as a form of feasibility assessment to enhance academic practice and support the professional readiness of students.
Nathan assured that the Board would provide detailed recommendations to the university management following the exercise.
Other members of the team included Whitney Ugo, Olayinka Kingsley-Otaru, and Adenike Ayanda.
The delegation was received alongside the Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management, A. M. Alabi, and the Acting Head of Department, Feyisetan Leo-Olagbaye, underscoring a coordinated institutional approach to quality assurance and professional alignment.
