UNDP Selects FUNAAB for Smart Agro-Innovation Hub

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has been selected to participate in the prestigious United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Smart Agro-Innovation Hub Project, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to advancing agricultural practices in Nigeria. The announcement was made by Dr. William Tsuma, Chief Innovation Officer and Head of the UNDP Lagos Office, during a reception held on October 3, 2024, at the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo.

Dr. Tsuma emphasized the pivotal role of agriculture in fostering development across the African continent, stating that modern agriculture, particularly precision farming, is now a domain led by technologists rather than traditional farmers. He noted, "The younger generation is no longer interested in conventional farming practices, and that's why precision agriculture, powered by technology, is the future."
