UNICAL VC Appoints an Acting Dean for FBS and a New Director for BAIAAS
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi has approved the appointment of Prof. Ayodele. T. Owolabi of the Department of Plant and Ecological Studies as acting Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences.

In the same vein, the Vice Chancellor also approved the appointment of Prof. Eyo Mensah of the Department of Linguistics as Director of, the Institute of African and Asian Studies.
The news of the latest appointments was conveyed in separate letters dated February 15 and signed by the University Registrar, Mr Gabriel Egbe.
According to the letters, Prof. Owolabi's appointment is for one year in the first instance and took effect from February 15. 2024 while that of Prof. Mensah is for two years with effect from the same date.
The Vice-Chancellor, according to the letter, charged the newly appointed acting Dean to strive to build a healthy relationship among Staff the Faculty, as well as, maintain its academic standing in the University.

This is even as the Vice Chancellor, as contained in the letter, urged the newly appointed Director of BAIAAS to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the administration of his office while also calling on him to liaise with his predecessor for smooth handing and taking over.
