The Vice Chancellor of the University of the Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi has commended the institution's team who participated in the Research for Impact Initiative (R4i) programme for their wonderful performances.

The Vice Chancellor of the University of the Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi has commended the institution's team who participated in the Research for Impact Initiative (R4i) programme for their wonderful performances.

Prof. Florence Obi disclosed this in her office when she received members of the University of Calabar Team (team 4) who paid a courtesy call to her office recently.

She said the team's fruitful display, has placed the University in a positive light adding that the team have equally placed themselves in a position of recognition whereby they will be useful as resource persons when a similar programme is organized by TETFUND.

 

             

According to her, "Let me first of all, congratulate all of you for your wonderful performances not just for having things to present but for winning individual prizes taking the first, Second and third positions in the R4i Creating writing contest is commendable.

While encouraging them to take proactive steps in sustaining the drive for more research and innovations, the Varsity administrator urged the team not to relent in their efforts to improve on their research work ' the biogas digester 'GASGLOW' which will serve research students and rural dwellers alike.

Speaking Earlier, the leader of the University of Calabar team (team4), Prof. Ayuk A. Ausaji who spoke on behalf of the team said their visit to the Vice Chancellor was to present a comprehensive report on their participation in the R4i programme held at Innov8 Hub, Abuja to the head of the institution.

He said during the programme, the Unical team alongside others participated in a diverse range of activities, including lectures, discussions, hands-on sessions, pitch training, interactive seasons with engineers and a guided tour.

These activities he said " …were strategically designed to augment our research methodologies, collaborative skills, innovative capabilities and understanding of emerging trends".

Prof. Ayuk also informed that aside from the prototype intended for further development into a Minimum Viable Product to present at the TETFAIR, the University of Calabar team, exclusively clinched all three awards in the R4i experience writing contest.

While thanking the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi for affording them the opportunity, he said the team is also grateful to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Linkages and Collaboration, Prof. Peter Okafor for efficient facilitation and coordination.

Other members of the University of Calabar team (team4) who participated in the TETFUND Programme include: Prof. Ernest-Bassey Etta Asikong, Dr. Michael Akpe, Mr. Alexander Oko and Dr. (Mrs) Idongesit  Eteng.
