The pioneering executive members of the Alumni Association of the University of Delta, Agbor (UNIDEL), on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Eboh, in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration and advancing the institution’s long-term development and global relevance.

The delegation, led by its Chairman, Mr. Godsent Ifeanyi, said the visit was both a congratulatory engagement and a strategic alignment exercise following the appointment of the new Vice-Chancellor. He noted that the association was committed to sustaining institutional synergy while deepening its relationship with the university management.

Mr. Ifeanyi explained that the alumni body sought continuity in its engagement with the university, emphasizing that it would build on existing frameworks established under the previous administration while aligning with the strategic direction of the current leadership.

“We came to seek a continuation of the synergy that existed between us and the previous administration. We are here also to present our reports and works so far to the brand new Vice-Chancellor. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor has been of great help to us since we came on board,” he stated.

In his response, Prof. Eboh commended the pioneer alumni executives for what he described as early-stage leadership maturity and institutional loyalty, noting that alumni structures remain critical drivers of university reputation, funding networks, and global visibility.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to repositioning UNIDEL through its “RAISE” strategic framework, designed to enhance institutional transformation, academic excellence, and global competitiveness.

According to him, alumni engagement is not symbolic but structural, forming a key pillar in sustainable university development.

Prof. Eboh also emphasized the need for inclusive participation of graduating students in the alumni system, describing it as essential for building a strong, interconnected institutional network.

“We want an alumni system that reflects broad participation from all graduating cohorts. I will support and work with you as pioneer leaders to ensure the UNIDEL Alumni Association becomes strong, functional, and globally connected,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor assured the association of full institutional backing in strengthening alumni engagement mechanisms and expanding their impact on the university’s development agenda.

The meeting was attended by senior university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Ijeh; Registrar, Dr. Mrs. Esther Akpojuvie; Bursar, Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu; and Librarian, Dr. Vera Okonoko.
