Accreditation commenced at 8:00 a.m. and concluded at 9:30 a.m., after which voting began. The process ended at exactly 2:30 p.m., with results formally announced by the Vice-Chancellor.
High-Level Oversight
The election was closely monitored from the Senate Chamber situation room. Present were:
- Prof. Stella Chiemeke, Vice-Chancellor
- Barr. Richmond Omagbemi, Registrar
- Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu, Bursar
- Electoral Committee members led by Dr. Rufus Ijeh, Dean, Students Advisory Services
- Observers from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)
- The ICT technical team headed by Dr. Bridget Malasowe, Director of ICT
- Mr. Obinna Eze, Head, Media and Protocol
Transparency Endorsed by Observers
Speaking after the exercise, Comrade Eseoghene Ovie Israel, Director of Action and Mobilization, NANS Zone B, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election. He commended the Vice-Chancellor for her inclusive and student-centered leadership, which he said facilitated a peaceful process.
He urged the newly elected executives to prioritize dialogue and negotiation in engaging university management, emphasizing that confrontational unionism is outdated.
Similarly, Comrade Otoku Isaiah Zikpo, speaking on behalf of contestants’ agents, described the process as transparent and credible. According to him, “Nothing was manipulated. The students’ will prevailed.” He noted that unlike experiences in some other institutions, the UNIDEL election reflected fairness and institutional maturity.

- Publicity Secretary: Eneni Kemesuodei Seleipre (650)
