UNILAG Matriculates 7,615 Postgraduate Students for 2025/2026 Academic Session
In a remarkable blend of academic excellence and religious leadership, two former Naibul Ameers of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), FUNAAB Chapter—Abdulkabir Anif and Imran Abdulrohim—have graduated with First Class Honours from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Their achievement has sparked pride and celebration within the MSSN community, standing as a strong testament that spiritual commitment and student leadership can coexist with, and even enhance, academic excellence.
Abdulkabir Anif, a graduate of the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics from Colleeh of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM) graduated with an impressive CGPA of 4.68. Anif was deeply involved in the academic and spiritual development of fellow students. He taught for multiple sessions at the Ar-Ruwwad (MSSN FUNAAB) Madrasah, contributing actively to Islamic education on campus. In addition, he served as the Naibul Ameer (Vice President) of Muslim Students FUNAAB during his penultimate year (400 level), combining leadership with academic focus.
On the other hand, Imran Abdulrohim, a graduate of the Department of Pasture and Range Management, also from College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM), finished with CGPA of 4.51. His journey through FUNAAB was marked by consistent service to the MSSN, having served as an executive from his 200 to 500 level. Notably, he held the position of Arabic Coordinator three times, overseeing the Madrasah (Islamic learning affairs) of Muslim students on campus. In his final year, he also served as the Naibul Ameer (Vice President) of the society. Known for his passion for impacting knowledge, Imran balanced sustained leadership responsibilities with academic discipline throughout his undergraduate years.
Beyond their First Class degrees and leadership roles, both graduates also earned formal recognition for academic excellence. Imran Abdulrohim and Abdulkabir Anif each emerged as Best Student of their respective departments—Pasture and Range Management (PRM) and Animal Breeding and Genetics (ABG)—at the ASSAN @33 Award of Academic Excellence, an honour they both received during their 400-level. In addition to this, Abdulkabir Anif was also a recipient of an academic excellence award presented by the FUNAAB Students’ Union Government (SUG) during the administration led by Comrade Adeyemi Ibrahim Bello, further underscoring his consistency in academic distinction.
Together, the success of Abdulkabir Anif and Imran Abdulrohim serves as a powerful rebuttal to the stereotype that religious devotion or student leadership distracts from academic pursuits. Rather, their stories reflect what may rightly be described as a double victory—excellence in both faith-based service and scholarship—offering inspiration to students within and beyond the MSSN community.
