Speaking at the 22nd Undergraduate and 13th Postgraduate Convocation Ceremonies of Babcock University in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Olanipekun highlighted Nigeria’s troubling economic indicators, including its position as the 6th most populous country with a GDP of $1,636, a 5% unemployment rate, and a 40.01% inflation rate.

Olanipekun, who was honored with a Doctor of Law and Administration, Honoris Causa, by Babcock University during the ceremony on July 28, 2024, criticized the misinterpretation of the biblical mandate to “replenish the earth.” He argued that the focus on mere population growth, rather than fostering values and contributions to national development, has led to unsustainable demographic trends.
