UNILAG Professor, Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika Honored with Prestigious International Awards
Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has been selected for two prestigious international programs. She will participate in the Trust, Accountability, and Inclusion (TAI) Collaborative Programme in Mexico from May 27 to May 31, 2024, and the Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) for Scholars on Journalism and Media at Arizona State University from June 2 to July 13, 2024
Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, the current Director of the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has garnered significant recognition, being selected for two esteemed international programs.

Professor Ogwezzy-Ndisika will participate in the Trust, Accountability, and Inclusion (TAI) Collaborative Programme in Mexico from May 27 to May 31, 2024. Her selection is based on her extensive scholarly work and community service in collaborative journalism, democracy, accountability, and social justice. The TAI Collaborative Programme is funded by the Trust, Accountability and Inclusion (TAI) Collaborative, a U.S.-based network of funders committed to good governance, and the Ford Foundation’s Mexico and Central America office.
Additionally, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) has chosen Professor Ogwezzy-Ndisika for the Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) for Scholars on Journalism and Media programme. This short-term study program, hosted by Arizona State University (ASU) from June 2 to July 13, 2024, will involve academic residency, leadership development, community service activities, an integrated study tour, and interactions with American peers.
Professor Ogwezzy-Ndisika, who has previously served as both acting and substantive Head of the Department of Mass Communication at UNILAG, specializes in Development Communication and Public Relations & Advertising (PRAD). She is also a Technical Adviser for the Collaborative Media Engagement for Development Inclusivity and Accountability (CMEDIA), an initiative of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ).
Her impressive career includes accolades such as the British Chevening and ADM Erasmus+ Exchange Scholar, multiple scholarships and grants for research, fellowships, conferences, and memberships in professional bodies. Professor Ogwezzy-Ndisika’s commitment to excellence and innovation has earned her widespread acclaim in academic and industry circles.
