UNILAG Security Coordinator Seeks Enhanced Marine Policing in Visit to Lagos CP

UNILAG’s newly appointed Security Coordinator, Mr. David Omotosho, visited Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jimoh Moshood, to request enhanced marine policing and increased security presence along the university’s waterfront.

UNILAG Security Coordinator Seeks Enhanced Marine Policing in Visit to Lagos CP

The newly appointed Coordinator of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Security Unit, Mr. David Omotosho, has solicited increased security presence along the university’s waterfront and the deployment of additional Marine Police Officers. This request was made during his courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Jimoh Moshood, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

The visit, held at the Police Headquarters, Old GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, marked the commencement of Mr. Omotosho’s familiarization tour to various security agencies across the state. The initiative aims to strengthen collaborations that will enhance security and safety across UNILAG’s three campuses and surrounding communities.

Mr. Omotosho reaffirmed the commitment of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, to ensuring maximum safety of lives and property within the institution. He specifically requested an additional complaint center for UNILAG to facilitate efficient handling of sensitive cases from the university community.

Responding to the requests, CP Jimoh Moshood congratulated Mr. Omotosho on his new role and assured him of the police command’s unwavering support. As a goodwill gesture, CP Moshood directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos, to immediately establish a front desk dedicated to UNILAG-related issues, ensuring prompt response to security concerns from the institution.

The Lagos police chief reiterated the commitment of the command to effective policing across the state, including within the UNILAG community. The visit underscored the ongoing collaboration between the university and security agencies to enhance campus safety and protect students, staff, and visitors.
