The University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, formalized a partnership with the University of South Carolina, USA, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The agreement was finalized during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the University of South Carolina, led by Dr. Matthew Guah, Dean of the College of Business and Information Systems, to the office of UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, on the 11th floor of the Senate House.

Dr. Guah, joined by the Director of the International Office, David Jamison, and students from his institution, met with Professor Ogunsola, the Registrar Mrs. Abosede Wickliffe, Prof. Sunday Adebisi of the Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre, Dr. Victor Onifade, Deputy Director of International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects, Dr. Simeon Ifere, Director of the Doctor of Business Administration program, and Mrs. Adeola Akinyeye, Deputy Registrar of the University of Lagos Business School.

During the visit, Dr. Guah emphasized the delegation’s intent to collaborate with UNILAG in strategic areas including transport and agribusiness. Professor Ogunsola highlighted the University’s efforts to reposition Nigeria’s global image through initiatives such as UNILAG International Week, stating, “Africa is the next frontier and its universities and innovations are better than people think and say. A lot is being done. We are underestimated, and that is good…”

The MoU establishes a framework for joint education and research programs, faculty and student exchanges, and other collaborative initiatives aimed at fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between the two institutions.
