UNILAG to Host Annual Lecture in Honour of Late Prof Adeogun

The University of Lagos' Department of Commercial & Industrial Law will hold its Annual Lecture in honour of the late Professor A.A. Adeogun on Thursday, June 27, 2024. The event will commence at 2:00 PM at the Professor Ayo Ajomo Hall, Nigeria Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of Lagos.

This year’s lecture, titled “Workplace Developments, Unfair Labour Practices, and International Best Practices,” will be delivered by His Lordship, Honourable Justice B.B. Kanyip, PhD., OFR, the esteemed President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. Justice Kanyip’s extensive experience and leadership in labour law make him the ideal speaker for this prestigious event.

A panel of distinguished academics will dissect the lecture, including:

• Professor J.E.O. Abugu, SAN – Department of Commercial & Industrial Law
• Professor C. Obisi – Department of Industrial Relations & Personnel Management
• Dr. Philip Folarin – Department of Commercial & Industrial Law

The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Professor Adejoke Oyewunmi, emphasized the department’s tradition of excellence in labour jurisprudence. She highlighted that the foundational work of trailblazers like Professor Adeogun has been carried forward by successive generations, significantly influencing Labour Law both in Nigeria and internationally.
